If there was one topic at the MWC; then it must have been quadcore CPUs in phones – quite a few manufacturers showed the devices, which all ran on Android.
To give you a bit of an overview, here is a little “parade of shame”:
Huawei Ascend D quad
The moment you get off the plane in Barcelona, you see the Huawei Ascend D quad. Here are two pics showing it next to the Galaxy SII:
For benchmarks, only one application was provided:
Finally, the full promotion video from the booth, filmed by yours truly:
HTC One X
HTC also has a quad/core handset, which we will cover in more detail tomorrow!
LG Optimus 4X
Having launched the first dual core smartphone, LG obviously also wants to be part of the quadcore game. Here is their handset, the Optimus 4X:
A few benchmark applications were provided:
Finally, a little video of the criTter:
ZTE Era
ZTE – so far, mainly known for its low end handsets, now also followed up with something more high-end. Sadly, their booth had a total loss of power – so no photos of the handset except for this one:
Samsung Galaxy SIII
Finally, the device of devices – is MIA. According to insider information, it just didn’t get ready for the show…
All of the devices mentioned above felt solidly made, and also worked flawlessly except for the ZTE model. It looks like we can look forward to a nice selection of devices – of course, the final decision will be made in reviews looking at the detailed properties.
